(Halifax, NS, August 15, 2009) Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS in his JETCO Contracting Chevrolet Monte Carlo won the Lucas Oil 100 at Scotia Speedworld, located near Halifax, NS on Saturday evening. Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS finished second, ahead of Lonnie Sommerville from Saint John, NB. Greg Proude of Springvale, PE and John Flemming of Halifax, NS rounded out the top five.
Wayne Smith won the Coast Tire Most Laps Led Award after leading 48 laps of the race which saw three cautions and took just 41 minutes to complete.
Kent Vincent from Crapaud, PE, Mike MacKenzie of Dartmouth, NS and Jonathan Hicken from Montague, PE each won a LiteCo heat race. No B Feature was run as all twenty seven cars that attempted to qualify ran in the Main Feature.
Mike Stevens won the Dartmouth Dodge Dash for Cash, featuring the top ten finishers in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. Craig Slaunwhite had the fastest time on the 1/3 mile d-oval, with a time of 14.454 seconds (74.720 mph)
The fans were also treated to an exciting Legends race which saw Scott MacLean victorious! He led 23 of the 50 laps they contested. MacLean was followed across the line by Justin MacNeill and Neil Stewart.
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour returns to action next week, when it makes its final stop at the high banks of Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia for the Parts For Trucks 100 on August 22nd. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials start at 5:10pm with racing to follow at 6pm.

Sommerville Wins Atlantic CAT 250
(Halifax, NS, August 8, 2009) Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB in his AE McKay Builders Chevrolet Impala SS won the Atlantic CAT 250 at Scotia Speedworld, located near Halifax, NS, on Saturday evening. The race ended on lap 249 when a caution came out and the checkers were thrown! Dave O’Blenis of Boundary Creek, NB and John Flemming of Halifax, NS followed him across the line. Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS and Kent Vincent of Crapaud, PE rounded out the top five.
John Flemming won the Coast Tire Most Laps Led Award after leading 86 laps of the race. There were 11 lead changes throughout the race between four different drivers. Only 8 cautions – including a competition yellow for gas, tires, and adjustments – interrupted the race which took just under two hours to complete.
Qualifying for the event took place on Friday night; Wayne Smith, Craig Slaunwhite of Terence Bay, and Mike MacKenzie of Halifax, NS each won a LiteCo heat race. There was no B Feature run and all twenty five cars that attempted to qualify started the prestigious event. Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS won the Dartmouth Dodge Dash for Cash, featuring the top ten finishers in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials which put him on the pole for the start of the 250 lap Main Feature. Sommerville had the fastest time, with a time of 14.516 seconds (74.401 mph)
Over 5000 fans were also treated to an exciting C&R Auto Supply Sportsman Division 100 lap race. Darren Wallage of Enfield, NS was the eventual winner and raced his way from a 15th starting position and avoided a red flag stoppage on lap 96 that demolished an eight foot section of the front pit wall! Troy Slaunwhite of Terence Bay, NS and Sheldon Pemberton of Dartmouth, NS were second and third respectively.
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour returns to action next Saturday, August 15th back at Scotia Speedworld for the Lucas Oil 100. This race is to replace the cancelled event in Shediac, NB. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will take place at 5:10pm followed by the Dartmouth Dodge Dash for Cash at 6pm.

Tucker wins Forbes Chevrolet 100
(Halifax, NS, July 5, 2009) Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB in his Rockico Truck & Trailer Chevrolet Impala SS won the Forbes Chevrolet 100 at Scotia Speedworld, located near Halifax, NS on Sunday afternoon. Tucker won with a 0.018 second margin of victory over John Flemming of Halifax, NS. Wayne Smith from Timberlea, NS finished third. Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS and Dave O’Blenis of Boundary Creek, NB rounded out the top five.
Greg Proude of Springvale, PE won the Coast Tire Most Laps Led Award after leading 79 laps of the race. Only 5 cautions interrupted the race which included a 76 lap green flag run and took just under an hour to complete. Dave O’Blenis, Wayne Smith, and Mike McKenzie from Dartmouth, NS each won a LiteCo heat race, while Roger Crane of Montague, PE won the B Feature which was his last chance to take one of the 26 positions in the race. Thirty one of the Maritime’s top drivers attempted to qualify for the 100 lap event.

CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Season Opener
(Halifax, NS, May 23, 2009) Greg Proude of Springvale, Prince Edward Island won the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Season Opener – the Lucas Oil 100 – at Scotia Speedworld, located near Halifax, NS on Saturday evening. The race started out with two quick cautions in the first 4 laps but then ran smooth. Daryl Mahar of Hubley, NS finished second, ahead of John Flemming from Halifax. Wayne Smith, Timberlea, NS and Lonnie Sommerville of Quispamsis, NB rounded out the top five.
Proude won the Coast Tire Most Laps Led Award after leading the final 81 laps of the race. Over 4000 fans saw him take the lead from Craig Slaunwhite of Terence Bay, NS who led the first 19 laps. Five cautions slowed the race, which took just under an hour to complete. Dave O’Blenis from Boundary Creek, NB, Robbie MacLean of Winsloe, PE and Kent Vincent from Crapaud, PE each won a LiteCo heat race, while Jonathan Hicken, Brudenell, PE, won the B Feature which was his last chance to qualify for the race. Thirty of the Maritime’s top drivers attempted to qualify for the Main Feature.

Lucas Oil 100 to Open ‘09 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Season
(Halifax, NS, May 19, 2009) Maritime race fans and drivers alike do not have to wait much longer to hear the four most anticipated words in racing – Gentlemen Start Your Engines! On Saturday, May 23rd, Scotia Speedworld will open its gates for the first time in ‘09 as it hosts the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour’s season opener, the Lucas Oil 100.
With close to 40 drivers registered for the Tour this season, organizers are expecting competition to be fierce as drivers will have to race their way into the main events. 30 plus drivers are expected to battle it out for the 26 spots in the Lucas Oil 100 Saturday at Scotia Speedworld; including 2008 Champion Wayne Smith and runners-up Lonnie Sommerville and Shawn Turple.
Opening the show is the Maritime League of Legends Tour who will run a 50 lap feature prior to the Lucas Oil 100. Singer/songwriter John Gracie will perform the national anthem.
In addition to the great racing action on the track fans will have the opportunity to win great prizes, including a VIP package to the Forbes Chevrolet 100 on July 4th at Scotia Speedworld. There will also be face painters on site for the kids and cool new CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour merchandise for sale.
Racing action starts at 4:00 pm, with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials set to begin at 3:10 pm. Box office and Grandstands open at 1:00 pm.
Admission for the Lucas Oil 100 is $25.00 for adults; $5.00 for youth aged 8-15; children 7 and under are admitted free. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $30.00 and restricted to those 16 and older.
